Start with the job, not the feature list

A stand needs to stay stable during the way you touch the screen.

Start with a compatibility list: device model, ports, operating system and intended use. A connector shape or large marketing number is not enough to establish that two pieces of equipment work together.

The three checks that matter

For this purchase, make your shortlist around device thickness, viewing angle and base stability. Treat a missing must-have as a reason to remove a candidate, rather than compensate for it with unrelated extras.

  • Device thickness: check this against your actual setup, using the exact model description or manual.
  • Viewing angle: decide what is necessary for a normal day, rather than an unusual one-off task.
  • Base stability: include the effort of using, storing and maintaining the item.

When a listing does not answer one of these questions, ask the seller or manufacturer. Do not convert an unspecified feature into an assumption.

Match the design to your routine

A low support suits occasional viewing; an adjustable stand helps when the tablet moves between reading and calls. Neither option is a universal winner. Choose the trade-off that removes the inconvenience you encounter most often.

Do this before ordering

Compare the fit with the tablet inside its normal case and check clearance around the charging connector.

Keep the measurements or compatibility notes beside your shortlist. Check the exact version and included accessories at checkout, because a similar name or photograph does not establish that two listings contain the same item. Compare the total delivered cost, including anything required to make it usable in your setup.

The mistake to avoid

Checking bare-device dimensions while using a thick protective case.

Your final buying checklist

  • I have checked device thickness for the exact item I intend to order.
  • I have considered viewing angle in my own space and routine.
  • I understand what base stability means during normal use.
  • I know which accessories are included and which must be bought separately.
  • I have read the seller’s current delivery and return terms.
  • I can explain why this solves a problem my existing setup does not.
